SMAA/99s Kids in Planes Event

On Saturday, February 24th the Santa Monica Airport Association and Los Angeles 99s Chapter co-hosted a Kids in Planes event at the Santa Monica Airport. Over 150 people attended the family event, and were escorted by SMAA and 99s volunteers to 5 participating planes. Parents and kids got to sit in the planes, move the yoke, and learn about the planes from pilots. We also had a local Girl Scout Troop 15495 selling cookies!

It was such a joy to see the faces light up of the kids (and even some parents). We hope we have inspired some young future pilots in the area!

Thank you to the Santa Monica Airport Association, EAA Chapter 11, Proteus Air Services and all of the pilots who donated their planes for display. We can’t wait for the next one!
