Oil Change Tech Talk and July Meeting

Our July meeting was hosted at Bill’s Air Center at Santa Monica Airport where we learned preventative maintenance on how to change the oil in a plane from Andres Gonzalez. He carefully explained each step with reasoning behind what you would be looking for, let us try our hand at removing and replacing the filter and safety wire. And, he showed us the inside of the filter and how to inspect it for metal shards. We were riveted and had some great fun, I think it was one of our favorite tech talks so far!

Our Chapter Meeting was productive: we announced results of last meeting’s election, voted our Bylaws and Standing Rules into effect, celebrated our newly established bank account, then the Chairs shared committee reports with lots of great ideas for our chapter’s future. It is really exciting to see this chapter take shape and see the ladies get involved with so many creative, intelligent ideas.

Special Thanks to Bill’s Air Center for hosting us, Andres Gonzalez for giving us a hands-on demonstration. And another thanks to Janie Thomas and Vanessa Gibson for providing snacks after our Chapter Chair whined about being hungry.
