Re-establishment of LA Chapter

Our inaugural chapter meeting on Thurs Oct 26th was a huge success! We had several members from the Long Beach and San Fernando Valley Chapters, as well many potential new members. There were women with all levels of experience from brand new students to accomplished pilots, and even a helicopter pilot. We are excited to revive a chapter with such a rich history. We are very grateful for the support from fellow airport organizations. Our goals are to encourage women in aviation and inspire positive attitude about the aviation within the local community.

As a group, we brainstormed 2018 initiatives for our chapter including: scholarships, repaint the compass rose, tech talks and fly-ins, partnerships with community events, social media presence, tours of ATC, career days at schools, etc.

Our meeting had an impromptu “Tech Talk” from Christian Fry (President of the Santa Monica Airport Association) regarding the future of the Santa Monica airport and impending runway shortening.

Future meetings will be scheduled for the First Tuesday of each month, at 7:00pm, with a social half hour at 6:30pm. Our next meeting will be after the start of 2018, on Jan 2nd.
