With 9 in attendance (and one 49 1/2er), we kicked off March with a St. Patrick’s Day themed meeting to discuss many upcoming projects and events. We had an overview of the recent Kids in Planes event, introduced projects of re-painting our compass rose, FAA Safety courses at SMO, and our upcoming Fly In.

Our Tech Talk was Mark King from CP Aviation out of Santa Paula to talk about spin and stall avoidance. It was aptly timed, since our most recent 99s News magazine features a cover photo of his colleague at CP Aviation – Judy Phelps! Using videos from the flight school and demonstrating with a model plane, he showed the importance of each maneuver in spin recovery and how doing them out of order will cause an aggravated spin. Our Chapter Treasurer, Janie, has completed his spin course with her husband and they highly recommend it.

Congratulations to our newest member, Eve Lopez, for passing her check ride on the same day as our Kids in Planes event!
